Barb Malcom
Owner, Head Coach

Barb's love of horses began at a young age.

As a child, Barb joined the Oshawa branch of the Pony Club. She started coaching part time during her time as a student at U of T and began full time freelance coaching post graduation. In 1994 her life long dream was realized and Churchill Chimes Equestrian Centre was established. She has been passionately teaching now for over 30 years. Barb has extensive experience in English riding disciplines, as well as breeding and training. Barb takes a multidisciplinary approach to her coaching, ensuring a well rounded curriculum and consequently a well rounded rider. She is Equine Canada certified.

Maral Ashdjion
Saturday Dressage Coach

Maral has been a riding instructor and clinician at Churchill Chimes for almost 20 years. Her primary focus is on dressage
and she works with her students to improve both their riding and their horse’s performance on the flat. Lessons can range from the most basics of learning to walk-trot-canter, through to the more complex skills of learning about half-halts and collection. The foundation of flat work can help to improve performance over fences, or can be the focus and advancement in the area of dressage. Maral has trained with and participated in clinics with many top Canadian and International trainers. She purchased her horse Ella as a young horse, over 10 years ago, and they have steadily progressed in their training, and will soon be ready to break into the FEI levels of dressage competition.
